Challenge: Our grade twelve animation class has been given the task to design a Low Poly Cabin Scene by a AAA Game Company, connecting to guilds, for a future game that will be published on consoles, the goal is to keep our poly count low, with a low poly aesthetic, while addressing the given theme.
Direction: Period piece, eleven hundreds, medieval in its structure, low technology and more importantly simplified to a low poly aesthetic, examples will be presented below.
Your cabin might take place on an island surrounded by a body of water of your choice, or on an island in the sky, just like in the story of Astro Boy, a dwelling in the cloud- your choice.
We are to create a single cabin dwelling with supporting theme based items, such as a cabin, surrounded by trees, boulders, perhaps a fire pit, a watch tower, a docking system for trade and such, keeping in mind that we need to connect it to a guild of your choosing.

Stages of Our Work Research, Develop Theme, Concept Development, Share with Class for Constructive Criticism, Further Refine Your Sketches, 3D Model low poly scene, Add simple colours and lighting, present all your stages in a document with attention to layout, composition, typography and emphasis of information, convert package to PDF document.

I will be working on this assignment with you documenting my progress. The work we create in this unit may end up as a portfolio piece for your post secondary application process to a future, art, design and or animation program- let's do this!
RESEARCH/ MOOD BOARD
My Theme: I am thinking of creating a Witch's Cabin on a small island, hence my research will support items that may help me build my theme further. If ever you reach a road block, please go back to bringing in additional references so that we can continue our research process, again I will repeat, this is really a very important step in our creative process, bring in as many example of every aspect of your story, it will also influence your drawing style...:)
Notice: My examples are organized in layers according to the elements that support my theme. In the next stage I will start generating concepts through quick and small sketches, at times I will also add colour, to give me time to think further in the creation process.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Note: During this stage, I ran into a road block, to that end I added a few more references to further develop and support my process. I am also attempting to draw in Procreate, it's certainly challenging, I will get through this stage and figure out which brushes work best for my process and then continue to work on my colour scheme next.
