I will be completely up front with regards to my skill level, I am not an expert. However I have a thirst to expand my drawing skills, so that I can share my learning with my students, particularly the one's applying to a portfolio based post-secondary program.
I would strongly emphasize finding a class with a live model in order to improve and see real results. As a high school Tech Ed educator, the best I can do is practice with you, daily, weekly using online references. Additionally, week after week, I will be posting my own in progress drawings, including references from people in industry that are demonstrating their thinking process that would best complement our growth.
Note: My approach to drawing the figure at this stage of my learning is to first place the line-of-action, then look for the shoulder and hip directions by placing lines there, adding the rib cage the hip bones, belt line, add simple anatomy landmarks, finishing with muscles and body and volumetric constructs.
Practice the Following Figures
First Artist Richard Smitherman Please watch each video, take notes and eventually practice while the artist is also demonstrating his or her process.
My recorded attempt from today is linked below, shortly I will be adding examples of my work, in order to showcase that through reflection and practice we can all develop our skills forward.
A BIG Thank You to New Masters Academy for posting the following amazing models for us to practice with- awesome and thank you!
