Noteworthy Animations to Review
Although I am not permitted to play entire shows and or movies during my classes, nothing is going to stop me from sharing with you noteworthy animations that are being created from talented people within the Animation Industry.
The following short film, has resonated with me for many reasons, number of which are too personal to share. On the surface, this short also connects with me due to having the pleasure of seeing one of my animation mentors produce an original body of work come to full realization.
Canvas featured on Netflix, directed by Frank E. Abney III, "tells the story of a Grandfather who, after suffering a devastating loss, is sent into a downward spiral and loses his inspiration to create. Years later, he decides to revisit the easel, and pick up the paint brush… but he can't do it alone." Netflix
Please if you do get a chance, watch the animated short on your own, I believe everyone will connect with this story on a personal level, you may like the aesthetic, like the story, the characters portrayed, the animations, the music, lighting, special effects; meaning everyone can take something away on their own.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving
OK, I think anyone who has taken any of my classes knows very well how often I reference The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille. Well, this doesn't get any better, I am and have been a huge fan of Brad Bird's work (BTW, he worked at Disney as an animator sometime ago, if you look into this further, you may find out which Disney legend's desk he sat in to work on his career).
