Filtered Water Bottle Design Task: You are to create a prototype of Filtered Water Bottle Design. We will go through most of the Design Process to deliver a prototype, from research & analysis, concept development, 3D modelling prototypes, rendering the product with lighting and a final product animation for promotional purposes.
Criteria: You are encouraged to explore form as well as materials that you might want to source.
Material Suggestions: Wood, Wood Veneer, Glass, Aluminum, Types of Metals,Resin, Plastics, and whatever else you would like to source...:)
NOTE: I will be uploading all my in-class lessons with screen grabs below for you to review and work with accordingly.
Stages of Our Work
Research & Analysis 8 items of inspiration, including noting as to why you chose each reference.
Elements of Interest Analysis of certain elements/parts that may become inspiration in the next stage, including sketching and noting as to why it is of interest to you. For example you can sketch parts of a bottle, shapes, lids/ covers, release buttons, types of filters, material types that interest you and any specific items that interests you from your researches.
Elements of a Puzzle Develop Bottle Design ideas from the small parts that you have sketched and noted, ultimately creating bottle designs from the various parts that you sketched; within this stage of the process, there is no need to be super detailed, the further Refinement stage is where you add greater details to your prototype.
Concept Development (4-2-1) FOUR initial concepts sketched out, can be in Orthographic view, schematic sketch with notations. TWO concept sketches(include Isometric Sketches of your Designs) from the initial FOUR, including Peer Review for suggestions. One proposed Design from the TWO above with notations and Peer Review. Orthographic and Isometric drawing of your proposed design, include colour to showcase suggestions of proposed materials.
Further Development This stage is where you start adding greater detail and resolution to your proposed design, articulate materials and possible functioning parts to be used. Deconstruct your proposed design into separate parts, will look very much like an exploded view of your Water Bottle, all materials and parts noted.
3D Prototype This is the stage where you actualize your proposed design in 3D, viewing all angles, and further developing your design, by refining all parts and adding colour, material selections, lighting your scene, and finally rendering out your product in a short animation.
Final Package The entire package will be exported into one PDF document, including a title page with your best view of your proposed design on the cover. All your digital 2D & 3D files will be submitted showcasing The Design Process, proof of work in all the above stages.
Package Dimensions 14" X 8.5" , you can place all your stages into Google Slides and export it as a PDF document.
