We will be having a lot of fun in this unit, working with Adobe Photoshop, learning to create compositions, using multiple images, using the power of layer and layer effects, non-destructive editing by working with Masks, duplicating images, and also experimenting with Layer Effects.
After working through the initial lesson activities in Photoshop, we will be creating a poster, possibly of a movie, a show we like, a video game, book or a poem, or an album cover (with my approval).
Second project will be creating an Abstract Self-Portrait of our selves, transferring the art work onto T-Shirts (B.Y.O.T. Bring Your Own T-Shirt), taking selfie pictures, referencing Andy Warhol's Silk Screen work digitally, pushing our work to be more abstract in nature-it's a wild ride that is truly rewarding!
1-Poster Design
Challenge: Poster Design with Images, Text and Shapes Poster Theme: Choose a video Game, Concert, Band, Book, an Athlete, a show on Netflix/ Disney, Prime, any channel; ultimately my approval is required in order to fully commit to the theme. PROCESS Stages of Our Work 1- Download images of your chosen theme (ongoing) in folder called “Poster Research”, around 12 images showcasing a variety of shots supporting your theme, and also include an image of the Title if possible.
2-Place your downloaded images in Google Slides, showcasing the breath of your research.
3- Choose 4 posters for inspiration, thumbnail sketch them with your analysis, indicate aspects of the poster that you find interesting, consider Composition Techniques (Foreground, Background and Middle Ground), Rule of Thirds, and Hierarchy of Information in your analysis. Additionally, in your thumbnail analysis, note how many images the artist incorporated in the created poster, noting BG, MG, and FG (As per my two demonstrations on the whiteboard). 4- Practice Photoshop lesson from my YouTube channel, including the learning activities with me in class. (please keep in mind that in my lessons I am on an Apple platform, Command means Control (Ctrl) on a Windows station, and Option on a Mac means Alt on a Windows computer).
