Game Asset & Environment Design Tasks
Scenario: You’ve just been hired by a game studio in Toronto! Your first assignment is to work with a creative team to design an interior space for a game environment. This space will include all the supporting assets and details that make it feel alive and believable. 1-Choose Your Theme Design a space for one of the following medieval-inspired roles: • A Craftsman from a Guild (Metalsmith, Blacksmith, • A Baker • A Healer • An Alchemist • A Wizard . Crypt, Cemetery, Library, Tavern, and so many more... You may also base your idea on a character or setting from a movie, series, or video game you’ve played. Once you’ve chosen your theme, share it with me for approval before you begin. |
2-Research & Inspiration
Use reference images, concept art, or real-world examples to help guide your design. Think about: • Furniture and tools your character might use • Lighting, textures, and materials • Mood and atmosphere 3-Design Focus
Your final scene should revolve around an interior space—this could be: • A living room • A workshop or lab • A kitchen or healing space • Any other room that fits your character’s role |
|
4-Sketching & Building
Start by sketching individual elements (e.g., furniture, tools, props). Then bring them together into a full scene. Incorporate: Elevation views to show front or side views Isometric views to show depth We will also touch on Interior Floor Plans (Examples way down below). |
Suggested Assets/Constructs to be Modelled:
Walls, Windows, Doors, Eating space, Sleeping space, Fireplace for warmth and, depending on your theme also a Cooking space. Additional items can be modelled to support your proposed theme accordingly, with Teacher guidance, approval and feedback- good stuff! |
