Project Overview
In this project, you will use Autodesk Revit to design a detailed 2‑bedroom condominium unit. This assignment introduces you to architectural modelling, digital drafting, and the design process used in professional engineering and architectural fields. You will create a complete digital model of a condo unit, including walls, doors, windows, rooms, fixtures, and basic interior layout. Your final model will be exported and presented as part of a design package. |
Project Goals
By the end of this project, you will be able to: • Use Autodesk Revit to create architectural floor plans and 3D models • Apply design principles such as proportion, layout, and spatial organization • Understand how residential spaces are planned and constructed • Produce technical drawings and 3D views from your model • Communicate design decisions clearly and professionally |
Lessons in this unit will teach students the basics of sketching, measurement, orthographic drawing, floor‑plan creation, 2D and 3D interior and Exterior views, furniture and material selection.
By the end of the project, students will use the design process to create a unique 3D model of their own 2 bedroom condo unit.
Students will conduct research, develop concepts, prototype virtual spaces, and build 3D representations. They will incorporate creativity and visualization skills that can support future learning and open pathways to careers such as architecture, interior design, game design, animation, medical visualization, coding, and the arts.
Students will learn that creativity takes time, practice, and a clear process. They will also work with industry‑standard tools and techniques to better understand how interior design, architecture, graphic design, and visualization professionals develop ideas and turn them into finished designs.

A complete, accurate floor plan of a 2‑bedroom condo. Required elements: • Two bedrooms each with a 3 Piece Bath • Kitchen, Living and Dining Area • Entry Space with Closet, Powder Room and Laundry Room. • Balcony |

A fully built 3D representation of your condo unit. Required elements:

A short written explanation (5–8 sentences) describing: • Your Design Goals • Your thinking behind your layout • How your design supports comfort and functionality • What challenges you faced in Revit • What you would improve with more time |
Project Deliverables and Process Work (Required)
You must show evidence of the design process, including: • Research Inspirations, Brainstorming and rough sketches • Early layout ideas • A simple hand‑drawn of your floor plan proposal • Screenshots of your model at different stages • Reflection on your progress |
Lessons
Lessons for this unit will cover, sketching, measurement, orthographic drawing, creating floor plans, sourcing furniture and interior materials, as well as tabulating our total purchasing cost.
Upon completion of this project, students will have implemented the design process to create a unique and personal 3D creation of their own proposed dream bedroom.
Students will incorporate research and analyses, concept development, prototyping virtual spaces, and building 3D representations of spaces, while incorporating creativity and visualization techniques that will be transferable to their future learning; they will discover new career pathways into such fields as (but not limited to) architecture, interior design, game design, animation, medical profession, coding, and the arts.
Students will gain an appreciation and understanding that creativity is not achieved by simply flipping a switch. It involves practice that follows many procedural methodologies to yield a concept and or a design proposal. Students will also utilize industry-standard products and techniques to better understand what is involved in the interior design, architectural, graphic design and visualization industries as they create designs from their own imaginations.

Lessons
Primary Bedroom Design Lessons: Learn to create simple block plans using references, resist jumping to your final design too soon, and follow the structured analysis stages. Thoughtfully block out your spaces and incorporate simple shapes into your space planning. Remember that your shapes need to be proportional to each other, and ensure smooth transitions between spaces. Consider hallways, accessibility to a bathroom, and convenient access to refreshments to enhance both functionality and comfort. You're now seeing spaces like a true designer—good stuff!
